Question: Why come to adviser workshops at
Ball State?

Answer: We've been helping support high school journalism for more than 50 years. Our commitment to helping advisers improve their craft is central to that mission.

In addition to the wide variety of adviser classes we offer, advisers coming for workshops are able to earn graduate credit for application to teacher license renewal or a graduate degree. Many advisers also are able to transfer credits to other universities.

Most importantly, you'll get the best instruction in the best facilities in the country. Coming to Ball State's adviser workshops will help you best help your students.

Question: I'm not able to come to Muncie for a week during the summer. What options do I have?

Answer: We're pretty flexible! Contact us to discuss advising classes we offer as independent study options.

Adviser Workshops

Whether you are new to advising student publications, need graduate credit or just want to brush up your journalism teaching concepts, the adviser workshops are for you. Advisers from across the country come together to learn key journalism skills from experienced instructors. Advisers also get hands-on experience and learn applicable proficiencies they will use in the classroom on a daily basis. You can attend classes for one or two weeks and earn up to six graduate credit hours.
